The Opportunity:

Position will be responsible for implementing projects and providing daily support of terminal management systems for automated loading terminals. Primary duty will be configuration and support of terminal automation software and related equipment, including terminal management system configuration and troubleshooting, software installation, and general technical system support. Will provide support of critical production systems, 7x24, to ensure continuous system availability. Activities include direct end user contact with terminal operations, corporate personnel, and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, implement and maintain terminal automation systems including related applications, hardware, interfaces, and communications.
  • Collect, interpret and document requirements to develop new or modify existing solutions.
  • Develop and implement automation system changes and enhancements.
  • Provide support of critical production automation systems, 7 days-a-week, 24 hours a day, to ensure continuous availability.
  • Perform research and maintenance activity, including vendor coordination to ensure that expected service levels and objectives are met.
  • Maintain broad understanding of information technology and business processes in order to assess impact and prioritize activities.
  • Responsible for solving difficult to complex technical issues.
  • Expected to continually expand scope of knowledge.
  • Expected to work effectively with other I/S disciplines and operations team members, and bridge gaps as necessary.
  • Travel – Must be willing and able to travel as required by the demands of the position, up to 20% of the time, but may be higher during critical project assignments.
  • Work assignments at remote sites will require outside work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed, including occasional weekend work

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; extensive work experience with terminal automation systems may be considered in lieu of degree.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience, including terminal automation systems configuration and support
  • Effective analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, managing time and schedule to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communication with a diversified user community and outside vendors.
  • Ability to identify an issue, analyze and research problems, and formulate a solution
  • Ability to identify, isolate, and repair equipment and software affecting service for all supported locations.
  • Available for 24 x 7 support as needed
  • Ability to take direction from supervisor and work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal systems pre-set and metering technologies
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID drawings
  • Field instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Basic knowledge of petroleum operations and industry terminology
  • Working knowledge of networks and Microsoft Windows
  • Working knowledge of virtual server environments, such as VMWare
  • Relational Databases, such as SQL or Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Linux, Unix, or QNX
  • MS Office Products
