Job Summary:
Panelmatic Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Wiring Technician Lead to provide hands-on leadership and technical support within our wiring department. The Lead Wiring Technician will lead and support a team of Wiring Technicians in the assembly and wiring of custom electrical control panels while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to engineering drawings, project specifications, and Panelmatic standards.
This role is responsible for helping coordinate daily work, providing technical guidance, inspecting completed work, troubleshooting wiring issues, and supporting the team in meeting project schedules and quality requirements. The Lead Wiring Technician will work closely with Production Supervisors, Engineering, and other team members to ensure projects are completed correctly and efficiently.
Job Duties:
- Lead and provide day-to-day direction and technical support to Wiring Technicians.
- Review engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and project specifications to determine assembly and wiring requirements.
- Help assign and prioritize daily work based on project schedules and production needs.
- Layout, measure, drill, and tap subpanels for initial assembly preparation.
- Install DIN rail, equipment, SEL relays, lockout relays, test switches, terminal blocks, nameplates, wire duct, and other electrical components.
- Cut, tag, route, and terminate wires according to project drawings and Panelmatic standards.
- Inspect wiring and panel assemblies to ensure proper routing, labeling, termination, workmanship, and overall quality.
- Troubleshoot wiring issues and assist technicians in resolving assembly and electrical discrepancies.
- Identify drawing, material, or production issues and communicate them to the appropriate Supervisor or Engineering team.
- Train and mentor Wiring Technicians on proper wiring techniques, tools, equipment, safety practices, and Panelmatic standards.
- Provide hands-on assistance with complex or difficult wiring and panel assembly tasks.
- Alter and cut steel, plastic, and other materials as required for panel fabrication and assembly.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable safety requirements, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Monitor progress and communicate project status, delays, material shortages, or other concerns to production leadership.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Support testing, inspection, and final quality checks as needed.
- Assist with onboarding and training new Wiring Technicians.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support project schedules, production goals, and overall department operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical panel wiring, electrical assembly, industrial wiring, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Previous lead, senior technician, or informal leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Strong understanding of electrical panel assembly and wiring practices.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, wire strippers, crimpers, drills, and other electrical assembly equipment.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, route, label, and terminate electrical wiring.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to troubleshoot wiring and assembly issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, engineering, and other departments.
- Ability to provide direction, training, and support to less-experienced team members.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and help keep projects on schedule.
