Position Summary

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals while ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. You may also assist in supervising kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with special and therapeutic diets, including texture-modified meals
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and portion control standards
  • Monitor and record food temperatures
  • Assist with meal service and ensure appealing food presentation
  • Maintain proper sanitizer levels and follow cleaning schedules
  • Clean kitchen equipment, work areas, and serving carts
  • Collaborate with dietary team and other departments
  • Report resident concerns or issues to leadership as needed
  • Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or long-term care
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary needs
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
