Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver theoretical, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with the Nova Scotia and Oxford International Continuing Care Assistant Curriculum.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional materials using a variety of adult learning methodologies.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
- Ensure students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and language backgrounds are welcomed and supported.
- Monitor student progress in classroom, laboratory, and placement settings.
- Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades, lab performance, and assignments.
- Provide one-on-one academic advising, performance coaching, counselling, and constructive feedback.
- Manage student disputes, conduct concerns, and discipline matters in accordance with school policies.
- Facilitate student orientations, graduation activities, and ensure timely issuance of certificates.
Clinical & Placement Oversight
- Coordinate, monitor, and supervise student placements as required.
- Ensure students meet placement expectations, program competencies, and professional conduct standards.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with placement partners, stakeholders, and community organizations.
- Contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment both in classroom and placement settings.
Program Operations
- Support the successful day-to-day operations of the CCA program.
- Assist with scheduling classes, labs, instructors, and placements according to enrollment and operational needs.
- Ensure timely responses to student, staff, and stakeholder inquiries (within one business day).
- Support recruitment and admissions initiatives as required.
- Assist with student onboarding and progression processes.
- Ensure Oxford International facilities and learning spaces are maintained to quality standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Support adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and compliance requirements related to the CCA program.
- Liaise with Labour and Advanced Education, advisory committees, and regulatory stakeholders as required.
- Ensure program delivery aligns with governing standards, provincial requirements, and Oxford International policies.
- Support implementation and monitoring of key program performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain all academic and service quality standards.
- Support curriculum review, updates, and continuous program improvement initiatives.
Business & Organizational Support
- Support aspects of the CCA business plan and operational budget relevant to the role.
- Participate in association work, committees, and organizational initiatives as required.
- Assist with general operational and administrative functions outside direct teaching responsibilities when needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to meet organizational goals and deadlines.
Person Specifications
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- Clear background or criminal record check
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in the healthcare field
- Current LPN/RN registration in Nova Scotia in good standing
- Must be available and willing to work flexible hours, including both daytime and evening shifts, based on program delivery and operational requirements
Experience and knowledge
- Experience in adult education and/or healthcare instruction considered an asset.

- Strong knowledge of Nova Scotia healthcare practices, CCA program standards, and adult education principles.
- Ability to teach effectively in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical environments.
