About this role

About Owner

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants.

We’re building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business.

It powers everything from the restaurant’s website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.

Product philosophy

Most small business software makes owners do the work to get what they want: sales growth and profit growth. Owner does the work for them agentically.

Our system drives demand, converts it, and helps operators run their business day to day. As it improves, the business improves with it.

Using Owner should feel like having a team of great operators, engineers, and marketers working for you.

Our vision

We’re starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it’s not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.

Once we nail the solution for restaurants – we’ll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction

Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.

More importantly, we’ve helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.

Our team

Our team is now in the low hundreds. We’ve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We’ll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.

Where we work

Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!

Role Overview

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants, and we're building the revenue engine to match: one unified system that finds restaurant owners, understands their intent, delivers the right message at the right moment, moves them into trials, and converts that demand into ARR.

As an Engineering Manager for GTM Systems, you'll lead the engineering team building the systems our revenue organization runs on every day: the full lead lifecycle (capture, enrichment, qualification and scoring, routing, and booking), rep-facing workflows and tooling, quote-to-cash (quoting, invoicing, payments, and hardware fulfillment), attribution and funnel instrumentation, and lifecycle messaging across email and SMS. Think acquisition funnels, lifecycle signals, billing flows, and AI-powered engagement, all working together as one system, with you holding the reliability bar it demands. When these systems work, every rep sells more. When they break, revenue stops. You'll own making sure they never break.

This role is equal parts engineering leadership, GTM intuition, and operational intensity. You'll be trusted to make fast, high-quality decisions, hold a zero-incident bar on revenue-critical systems, and grow a team that owns business outcomes, not just code.

We move with urgency, bias toward simplicity, and expect our leaders to be hands-on when needed. If you're energized by ownership, decisive execution, and building the internal machinery that powers a modern revenue engine, we'd love to hear from you.

Why we’re looking for you

Our go-to-market motion spans acquisition funnels, lifecycle signals, CRM and RevOps integrations, billing flows, and AI-powered engagement. We're building it into one coherent system: a unified lead funnel spanning growth surfaces, sales, and launch workflows; one source of truth for leads and accounts; and an AI layer on top for next-best-action, automated pre-call research, and real-time diagnosis when funnel metrics move.

The GTM Systems team owns this system end to end, and the engineering is meaty: high-volume event pipelines feeding lead scoring and routing, deep CRM and RevOps integrations and the architecture decisions that keep them flexible, attribution across every marketing and sales touchpoint, billing and payment flows, and instrumentation that detects a regression in lead volume or quality before any human notices. Sales, marketing, and partnerships are your customers, and the funnel is your product.

This team is small and mighty, and it needs a dedicated engineering leader who can raise the reliability bar, drive complex cross-system work streams to hard dates, and build a culture where engineers own the revenue outcome. We're looking for a rare profile: someone who loves building, gets genuinely excited about internal tools and go-to-market, and has the leadership presence to run the team. An engineering background matters here because it brings systems thinking and the ability to reason through complex data flows across many integrated systems. Direct RevOps or CRM stack experience is a strong plus, not a requirement.

Our Stack

  • Backend: Node.js, TypeScript

  • Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript

  • Databases & Messaging: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka

  • Infrastructure & Observability: Temporal, Datadog, AWS

  • GTM & RevOps integrations: Salesforce, HubSpot, and adjacent revenue tooling

  • TypeScript everywhere

The impact you'll have

  • Lead the GTM Systems engineering team building the lead lifecycle, qualification and scoring, routing, rep workflows, quote-to-cash, attribution, and lifecycle messaging systems our revenue org runs on

  • Evolve our CRM and RevOps infrastructure toward a headless architecture that gives engineering and GTM teams more flexibility to build on top of it, with clear plans, hard dates, and safe cutovers for live revenue workflows

  • Own reliability for GTM systems end to end: on-call, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and automated regression detection on funnel metrics, with a zero-incident bar

  • Build a team that owns business outcomes (lead volume, lead quality, conversion, sales efficiency) and can diagnose at the funnel level, not just the code level: distinguishing a systems failure from an upstream marketing or seasonality shift

  • Own data integrity across the GTM stack: one clean system of record for leads, contacts, and accounts, with enrichment, deduplication, and consistent attribution across every touchpoint

  • Partner closely with GTM product leadership, sales, marketing, and RevOps to translate revenue workflows (routing rules, qualification criteria, pricing and quoting logic) into engineered, self-serve systems

  • Shape how AI shows up in our GTM motion: agent-assisted rep workflows, automated pre-call research, and automated root-cause analysis when funnel metrics regress

  • Hire, grow, and retain exceptional engineers who thrive in a high-trust, high-intensity environment

  • Contribute to code and architecture reviews, unblock the team, and lead by example when needed

What we’re looking for

  • ~3 years of experience in a software engineering management role, preferably in high-growth environments

  • Experience building or leading engineering for GTM, revenue, or growth systems: CRM and lead flow, scoring and enrichment, routing, attribution, quote-to-cash or billing, sales engagement tooling, or marketing lifecycle

  • Fluency in how a modern revenue funnel works: leads, MQLs/SQLs, routing, pipeline stages, conversion metrics, and the handoffs between marketing, sales, and post-sale teams

  • A track record of running reliable business-critical systems: on-call health, incident response, monitoring, and funnel-level instrumentation

  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to reason through complex data flows across many integrated services and third-party tools

  • High agency and proactive ownership: you drive work to a finish line without being asked, and you own outcomes rather than tasks

  • Experience with modern backend systems (e.g. Node.js, TypeScript) and comfort reviewing full-stack work

  • High degree of cross-functional collaboration; past partners in sales, marketing, and operations would speak highly of your teamwork

  • A plus: hands-on experience at the intersection of CRM and modern GTM tooling (Salesforce, HubSpot, Clay, Apollo) and strong opinions on how that stack should evolve

  • A plus: experience applying LLMs or agents to GTM workflows (research, enrichment, next-best-action, automated diagnosis)

Compensation and benefits
