Commercial Sewing is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to play a key role in product development, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position bridges engineering and production, helping transform concepts into production-ready products while improving efficiency, quality, and performance across our operation.

What You'll Do

As an Engineering Technician, you'll support products from concept through production while working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support product development projects from initial concept through production release.
Create, modify, and maintain detailed part, assembly, tooling, and fixture designs using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Develop engineering drawings utilizing GD&T principles to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability.
Design and build jigs, fixtures, and tooling that improve safety, efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
Evaluate designs and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
Troubleshoot technical issues in prototype and production environments and implement effective solutions.
Conduct root-cause analysis and lead corrective action efforts.
Develop and maintain work instructions, specifications, engineering documentation, and visual aids.
Maintain engineering and production data within the ERP system (Epicor).
Partner with cross-functional teams to balance customer requirements, product quality, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve productivity, and enhance product quality.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, and implementation activities.
Provide technical support and guidance to production personnel and team members.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field required.
Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
5–7 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, product development, or a related technical environment.
Experience independently managing technical projects and priorities.
Strong background in fabrication, machining, manufacturing, or industrial processes.
Experience with textiles, sewn products, or soft goods manufacturing is a plus.

Technical Skills

Advanced CAD proficiency, preferably SolidWorks.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other engineering software tools.
