Work alongside our Physical Therapists to provide hands-on, patient-centered care while helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence.

The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Supervises and aids in direct patient care and related activities as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ treatment plan;
  • Communicates with manager and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans;
  • Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely;
  • Maintain patient records confidentially;
  • Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner;
  • Implements and executes an  established patient treatment plan under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Communicates with patient, families, referring physicians and other members of  the team.
  • Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements.
  • Develops and  enhances clinical and  professional skills through knowledge and professional associations.
  • Communicates with patient,  families and other clinical staff of treatment variations.
  • Provides timely written documentation as required  by insurance provider to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, reimbursement requirements and physician treatment plan.
  • Supports and participates in department operations and development.
  • Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned;

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program;
  • Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license;
  • CPR certification required;
  • One year as a Physical Therapy Assistant or comparable internship;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
