Job Description and Responsibilities
As the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our regional recycling business in a province or state. You will have day-to-day responsibility for providing leadership and direction for operational performance, budget, people, safety, and quality. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven background in change management, transformations, and the ability to drive growth within an organization while leading a diverse workforce.
- Proactively work to reduce safety risks and create a “safety first” culture
- Manage a multi-site network of shredders and feeder yards across a geographic region
- Implement business transformation and use continuous improvement tools to engage site leaders to continuously improve yards operations within region
- Lead initiatives that enhance EBITDA through increased material flow, expanded supplier networks, profitable market growth, and by identifying new sources of purchased material
- Optimize volume allocation of scrap within the region to achieve optimal financial performance
- Partner with HR to recruit, develop, and retain talent and evolve the local team’s capabilities and implement strategic programming initiatives
- Develop plans to achieve optimal equipment utilization, labor cost, and maintenance activities
- Develop and manage regional operational budgets, capital plans and cost savings targets
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial/state, federal, environmental, health and safety regulations across Canada and the United States
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Business Diploma in a technical or business-related field; Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field is considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years in operations leadership role in recycling, metals, steel, or heavy manufacturing
- Minimum 2 years managing an industrial workforce and managing a multi-site operation
- Demonstrated experience managing a regional or multi-site P&L and delivering financial results
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, business transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven track record of delivering measurable results growing or improving a business
- Strong business acumen, analytical, quantitative skills; experience with managing financials
