About the role

Our Western Australian Metals Business is thriving, and as such we are on the lookout for multiple energetic and team focused Underground Charge-Up Operators join our high performing team.

The successful candidates will work on 8/6 rosters FIFO from Perth. Onsite accommodation and meals are provided.

As a valued member of this team you will assist in providing a quality Charge-up Blasting service to our Western Australian Metals Business customers in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. You will be working closely with UG Shotfirers and Operators on site, managing all tasks associated with the loading, tying and firing of blasts.

Our UG Charge-up Operators are technical problem solvers, and also charged with the responsibility of leading our crews, training new employees, and managing complicated blast projects for our customers as and when they arise.

At Orica, we have incredible training and organisational development infrastructure in which to support Shotfirers who wish to take the next step their careers into Technical and Blast Engineering related roles, or Leadership within our large global business.

What you will be doing

 

  • First and foremost, demonstrating and setting the example of our key company value: 'Safety is our Priority, Always';
  • Charge-up duties including Magazine Management, Managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, following drill and blast designs;
  • Providing leadership and direction to the blast crew;
  • Assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members;
  • Working in tight unison with all blast crew teammates to provide an excellence in service to our valued customers;
  • At all times acting with integrity and respect.

What you will bring

 

  • A positive team-orientated work ethic;
  • A current or recent Australian shotfiring licence (preferable);
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a UG Charge-up crew;
  • A strong commitment to safety.
