About the role


Join Orica's global Digital Workplace team as a 
Solution Architect – End User Compute, where you'll drive the design and evolution, technical blueprint development, and feasibility assessment of End User Modern Workplace technologies including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Entra ID, Intune, and Windows Autopilot. Leveraging your architecture expertise and project delivery experience, you'll help turn business needs into practical, scalable solutions that make a real impact across our global operations.

You'll work closely with engineers, enterprise architects, project teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and IT leaders to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready workplace solutions supporting a global organization.

What you will be doing

 

Solution Design & Architecture 

  • Produce high-level and detailed solution designs, technical blueprints, and functional specifications across end-user technologies and infrastructure. 
  • Develop and maintain EUC platform architecture and contribute to the technology roadmap for Modern Workplace services. 
  • Recommend platform improvements aligned with cloud-first and Modern Workplace principles. 
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective. 
  • Review and approve architecture designs, technical specifications, and major technology changes before implementation. 
  • Support projects throughout the lifecycle, from initial scoping and design through testing and production deployment. 
  • Maintain architecture documentation and coordinate ongoing technology reviews and platform upgrades.   


Demand & Portfolio Management 

  • Assess and prioritise new ideas, initiatives, and change requests. 
  • Conduct feasibility studies evaluating technical viability, costs, risks, resource requirements, and business value. 
  • Partner with Architecture, PMO, and business stakeholders to align initiatives with strategic objectives. 
  • Develop recommendations and business cases to support investment decisions.  

 
Project Delivery 

  • Provide architectural leadership for medium to large-scale workplace technology projects. 
  • Develop technical delivery plans, effort estimates, and resource requirements. 
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. 
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges. 
  • Support change management, testing, and business readiness activities.  

 
Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement 

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, engineers, architects, cyber security teams, and external vendors. 
  • Provide strategic guidance and architectural expertise across multiple initiatives. 
  • Manage vendor interactions, technology assessments, and solution reviews. 
  • Contribute to short and medium-term technology planning and roadmaps.  

 
Continuous Improvement & Innovation 

  • Drive opportunities for automation, integration, simplification, and innovation. 
  • Champion best practices that improve the performance, reliability, and security of workplace services. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled workplace solutions, for potential adoption. 

What you will bring

 

  • 10+ years' experience in IT from either technical or business-focused roles.  
  • 5+ years' experience in End User Compute, Modern Workplace, infrastructure engineering, architecture, or related disciplines.  
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or Senior Engineer in large enterprise environments.  
  • Demonstrated experience producing solution designs, technical blueprints, feasibility studies, and business cases.  
  • Strong project delivery experience and stakeholder engagement skills.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • You will ideally have experience across several of the following areas: 
    • Microsoft 365 
    • Entra ID (Azure AD) 
    • Microsoft Intune 
    • Windows Autopilot 
    • Modern Workplace platforms 
    • End User Compute (EUC) 
    • Google Workspace 
    • Device management and endpoint security 
    • Identity and access management 
    • Enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps 
    • Application deployment and patch management 
    • Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM)
