About the role
The AusPac SHES Advisor – Safety, Systems and Assurance provide specialist support to strengthen SHES performance across the region by developing and improving integrated management systems and governance frameworks.
The role ensures alignment with legal, regulatory, and industry standards while supporting systems, procedures, assurance, and reporting. It also partners with stakeholders to deliver practical insights and drive consistent, compliant, and continuously improving SHES practices across the business.
What you will be doing
SHES Management System & Governance
Develop, manage, and continuously improve the AusPac SHES Management System, including frameworks, processes, procedures, and tools. Ensure alignment with global standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Maintain clear documentation of system architecture and conduct reviews to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities. Support the rollout of Group Standards and promote consistent governance practices across the region.
Regulatory, Legal & Standards Management
Monitor regulatory, legal, and industry updates, conduct impact assessments, and communicate implications. Maintain registers across jurisdictions and provide guidance to support compliance. Develop learning materials based on internal insights and industry developments.
Audit, Assurance & Quality
Support the Regional SHES Assurance Plan and participate in Tier 1 and 2 activities. Conduct audits and system reviews to assess performance. Evaluate investigation quality, audit outcomes, and action effectiveness while promoting consistent control practices.
Incident Investigation & Industry Interface
Support and review investigations to ensure strong root cause analysis and consistency. Monitor outcomes and ensure follow-through of action plans. Contribute to regulatory responses and industry reviews, identifying systemic improvements.
Reporting, Performance & Insights
Develop and coordinate SHES reporting, including periodic updates and deep-dive reviews. Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights. Support Pillar Leads in tracking performance, standards, and compliance.
Systems & Platform Support
Maintain SHES system architecture and provide SME input on enhancements (e.g., Enablon). Collaborate with IT and vendors to ensure system performance, data integrity, user adoption, and continuous optimization.
Improvement & Projects
Support the delivery of SHES initiatives and projects, including tracking progress. Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement while integrating industry learnings and engaging with external groups.
Training & Capability Building
Develop training and communication materials aligned with system and regulatory requirements. Support stakeholder capability through coaching, collaboration forums, and communities of practice.
Stakeholder Engagement
Provide day-to-day SME support, including legal interpretation and regulator engagement. Collaborate with global teams and foster strong cross-functional relationships.
Commercial & Administrative Support
Assist with financial processes such as purchase orders, invoicing, budget tracking, and forecasting. Support coordination of external consultants.
Audit & External Support
Assist in preparing audit materials, tenders, and RFIs, ensuring high-quality SHES documentation and responses.
What you will bring
- Relevant degree in Safety, Health, Environment, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in SHES within resources, manufacturing, or heavy industry
- Demonstrated expertise in integrated SHES management systems, safety and health frameworks across AusPac jurisdictions, risk management, and assurance practices.
- Strong experience in audits, investigations, system development, and delivering improvement initiatives and projects.
- Highly analytical with strong reporting capability, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and a high level of judgement and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using business systems.
