About the role

Context

In the scope of developing new IoT offerings, Orange aims to design and operate a dedicated Mobile Core platform tailored for IoT applications. This platform primarily comprises a 4G/5G mobile core network, an IMS solution, and an SMSC platform, all built upon a cloud-native Kubernetes infrastructure. The platform will support 4G/5G data, voice, and SMS services.

Within this framework, we are seeking a System Technical Architect to serve as the end-to-end solution implementation leader. The incumbent will be responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining the detailed architecture at the execution level.

Main Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Solution Architect (responsible for High-Level Design), the Telco Cloud Infrastructure team, and the Telecom & IT Engineering teams, the System Technical Architect will:

• Translate high-level architecture and system requirements into detailed, implementable Low-Level Designs (LLD), including:
  • Overall Kubernetes infrastructure design, encompassing:
    • CNF deployment patterns
    • Namespace and isolation strategies
    • Networking configurations
    • Security policies and RBAC implementation
  • Application-level configurations for telecom components such as:
    • Data core network
    • IMS
    • SMSC functions
    • Signaling and roaming functions
• Develop flow matrices, network diagrams, IP addressing plans, and security policies for the entire architecture, ensuring proper interworking with external networks and systems.
• Manage capacity planning based on traffic forecasts.
• Ensure system observability and traceability by designing low-level monitoring and observability solutions, including tracing tools, in collaboration with relevant experts.
• Guarantee security by design, working closely with the security team to incorporate security best practices into the architecture.
• Oversee solution delivery by:
  • Collaborating with infrastructure teams responsible for Kubernetes cluster deployment and operations.
  • Coordinating with engineering teams across subsystems to ensure seamless vertical and horizontal integration, validation, and deployment.
  • Managing dependencies with external teams.
  • Applying Orange’s processes for IP pool management, referential updates, flow provisioning across networks, and complex end-to-end integrations.
• Refine the architecture in response to integration issues, in coordination with the system architect and engineering teams.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and version control of architectural evolutions.

Support to Qualification Team

The System Technical Architect will also play a key role in supporting the qualification process by:

• Defining target call flows for voice, data, and SMS services.
• Assisting in the development and refinement of testing strategies.
• Supporting troubleshooting activities for complex integration issues, including trace analysis and root cause identification.

Technical Skills:

• Telecom System Expertise (Mandatory):
  • 4G EPC / 5G Core (5GC)
  • IMS / VoLTE / SMS architectures
  • Signaling protocols such as SIP, Diameter, HTTP/2 SBA
• IP/Infrastructure Low-Level Architecture Design:
  • Flow matrix development
  • IP/MPLS networking
  • Security architecture design
  • Resilient architecture implementation
• Cloud-Native & Containerization Skills:
  • Basic proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker
• Complex Integration & Troubleshooting:
  • Strong skills in system integration and issue resolution
  • Security considerations and operational readiness (design for security, observability, ease of operation)
• DevOps Practices:
  • Awareness and understanding of DevOps methodologies

Non-Technical Skills:

• Ability to operate effectively within large and complex organizational structures
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration across multiple teams in an international environment
• Strong self-organization skills with the ability to manage details efficiently
• Analytical skills to evaluate, compare, and propose solutions on complex architectural topics
• Proficiency in documenting and structuring technical documentation effectively

Profile

• Senior Technical Architect with at least 10 years of professional experience
• Extensive experience as a system architect in large-scale mobile projects
• Engineering degree or equivalent in telecommunications, computer science, or related fields
