Dental Surgical Assistant
Position Purpose
We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and patient-focused Dental Surgical Assistant to join our oral surgery team. This role is essential in supporting our surgeons during procedures while ensuring a safe, efficient, and exceptional experience for every patient.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality care. You will play a key role in both clinical support and patient interaction, contributing directly to the success of the practice.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Chairside Surgical Support: Assist surgeons during oral surgery procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and available.
Patient Care: Prepare patients for surgery, review post-operative instructions, and provide reassurance to ensure a positive experience.
Sterilization & Infection Control: Maintain strict sterilization protocols and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Operatory Preparation: Set up and break down surgical rooms efficiently, ensuring readiness for each procedure.
Radiography & Imaging: Take and process dental radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging as needed.
Inventory & Supplies: Monitor and maintain clinical inventory, ensuring adequate stock of surgical materials and supplies.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, front office, and clinical team members to ensure seamless patient flow and operational efficiency.
Versatility: Support additional clinical and administrative tasks as needed to meet the needs of the practice.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous oral surgery assisting experience preferred
Current certification as a Dental Assistant (if required by state)
Radiology certification preferred (if applicable)
Knowledge of sterilization protocols and infection control standards
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced surgical environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Positive attitude with a team-oriented mindset
Willingness to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibilities

Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas has a team of four oral surgeons.
Dr. Colin S. Bell, Dr. Douglas J. Dingwerth, Dr. Maxwell D. Finn and Dr. William R. Walstad work closely together to provide the utmost quality care and well-being of our patients.
Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
