Senior Platform Architect

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Platform Architect to lead the technical design and delivery of cloud infrastructure. You'll join our excelling team, based in the London area for a 6-month contract inside IR35 with scope to extend. This role requires one day onsite in White City per week.

This opportunity will lead the end-to-end AWS platform design and delivery for a cloud-first post-production platform, translating expert media workflow requirements into performant, cost-optimised and secure cloud architecture across storage, compute, networking, identity and FinOps.

What you'll be doing:

• Own the High-Level Design for the PoC infrastructure and the Detailed Design for the pilot platform, covering storage, compute, networking, identity and security.

• Lead network assessment and latency testing across regions and connectivity options, and design connectivity for production sites without DirectConnect and for editors working from home over the public internet, maintaining zero-trust security while minimising egress costs.

• Design a tiered AWS storage solution against the client's Private Pricing

• Work with the client's Platform Engineers to design and deploy GPU-enabled EC2 workstations for proxy and full-resolution editing, using remote access tools such as Teradici, Parsec or DCV to suit the various editor locations.

• Build and maintain the cost model for the PoC and projected pilot, embedding FinOps from Day 1 through tagging, cost allocation, savings plans and right-sizing.

• Deliver the infrastructure build across storage, compute, networking, identity and security, and produce the integration architecture for vendor tools and media systems.

• Lead performance testing and optimisation to meet the non-negotiable success criterion that editors do not notice the difference from their current setup, including full-resolution multicam without frame drops or perceptible latency.

• Coordinate the security review with the client's Cyber team and ensure the design meets zero-trust and multi-tenancy isolation requirements.

• Provide platform support during live production in the Pilot phase, covering performance monitoring, cost tracking and issue resolution.
