We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Licensed Captain to join our dealership team. This position plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional ownership experience by conducting sea trials, vessel deliveries, and comprehensive customer orientation sessions for new boat owners.

The ideal candidate combines strong boating expertise with outstanding communication skills and a passion for helping customers gain confidence on the water.

Position Summary

As a Delivery Captain & Customer Orientation Specialist, you will serve as the dealership's on-water expert, ensuring every customer receives a safe, informative, and enjoyable introduction to their new vessel. You will conduct sea trials for prospective buyers, perform vessel demonstrations, and provide hands-on training during new boat deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct sea trials for prospective boat buyers and assist the sales team during demonstrations.
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections to ensure vessels are fully prepared for customer delivery.
  • Deliver new boats to customers and provide comprehensive operational training.
  • Educate customers on vessel systems, safety procedures, navigation equipment, docking techniques, maintenance requirements, and best boating practices.
  • Ensure all delivery documentation, checklists, and customer acknowledgments are completed accurately.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with sales and service team members.
  • Assist with local vessel relocations, boat shows, customer events, and dealership demonstrations.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the dealership with the highest level of customer service.
  • Report any vessel concerns or service issues identified during inspections or sea trials.

Qualifications

  • Current USCG Captain's License.
  • Strong knowledge of boats, marine systems, navigation electronics, and safe vessel operation.
  • Previous experience as a captain, marine instructor, delivery captain, or marine service professional preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple delivery schedules.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of vessel types and sizes. Our dealership specializes in pontoons and tritoons ranging from 18-30 feet in length, jet boats ranging from 19-29 feet in length, and center and dual consoles ranging from 18-36 feet in length.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday and some weekends as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Boat dealership or marina experience.
  • Customer training or instructional experience.
  • Knowledge of outboard boats and jet boat systems.
  • Experience towing, docking, launching, loading, and maneuvering vessels in various conditions.
