Job Overview

The NPI Sourcing Senior Specialist provides critical strategic sourcing, quoting, and purchasing execution for the R&D organization, supporting the Fiber Infrastructure BU. This role encompasses New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), sustaining engineering, and general laboratory operations. The successful candidate serves as the primary operational link between R&D engineering and the global supply base, managing material readiness to ensure seamless, on-time technology launches. This position reports to the Sourcing NPI Plano Leader and will be based in Plano, TX or Matamoros, Mexico.

Core Responsibilities

  • RFQ Execution: Lead the Request for Quote (RFQ) process for custom parts, commercial components, and prototype tooling utilizing approved suppliers to secure optimal costing at project volumes.
  • Supplier Interface: Act as the primary, central point of contact for external suppliers regarding all new design orders and prototype iterations.
  • Data & Order Management: Maintain purchasing system integrity, place purchase orders, and track timely material receipts to tightly align with technology project schedules.
  • BOM Cost Analytics: Perform deep-dive Bill of Materials (BOM) cost analyses, track Material-Only Cost (MOC) metrics, and proactively identify component shortages.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Project Managers, Technical Managers, and Hardware Engineers to execute short- and long-term deliverables per program timelines.
  • Manufacturing Hand-off: Procure unique long-lead parts for initial factory release, manage the First Article Inspection (FAI) process, and seamlessly transfer material control from R&D to Factory Production Planning at the end of the NPI lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in component sourcing, material management, and technical procurement.
  • Systems Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience utilizing ERP software

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced Tools: Prior experience working with SAP-PRL systems and PTC Windchill PLM software.
  • Data Analytics: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for BOM analysis and financial tracking.
  • Execution Focus: Strong organizational and project management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work responsively in high-velocity team environment
