Job Title: Temporary Works Co-Ordinator / Appointed Person (Lifting Operations)

Reporting to: Project Manager


Role purpose

The Transmission & Distribution Sector is currently thriving as the Government looks to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to take advantage of the growth in the Renewable Energy Sector.

Omexom are a partner of SSE on the ASTI Framework and Pathway to 2030 is a key part of this being the hub for several other schemes to feed into the Grid. Through this Framework Omexom has been awarded two major projects at Fort Augustus, Highlands and Emmock, Dundee. These projects will run from 2026 -2032.

The TWP/AP role will play a pivotal role in safe delivery of both projects.

To manage and coordinate temporary works and lifting operations ensuring compliance with BS 5975, BS 7121,UK Health and Safety Legislation and project requirements.

Working as part of the construction team on both projects is anticipated that the role can be conducted on a hybrid basis although travel will be required for both projects on a regular basis. It is anticipated that there may be some requirement for overnight stays at site.

Hours or work shall normally align with site hours 0800-1700 Mon-Fri. Occasional working outside these hours will be required to suit the requirements of the project.

They will assist the Construction Manager to ensure that all Temporary Works and Lifting Operations are undertaken safely and in line with both SSE and legal requirements.

The postholder will have the authority to stop work if they feel that the work is unsafe or not authorized.

This is an ideal opportunity to work on a large prestige project for a Tier 1 Contractor with a visible path of progression. Omexom encourage and support their staff to develop and maximize their potential.


Responsibilities & Duties

•Develop , Implement and maintain Temporary Works procedures,

•Maintain Temporary Works registers,

•Coordinate Temporary Works design, checking and inspections,

•Plan , monitor and approve lifting operations and lift plans

  • brief lifting teams and stopping unsafe activities.

•Review Temporary Works Designs and ensure compliance on implementation and/or construction and dismantling

•Stop any unsafe works and ensure compliance

Person Specification

Qualifications and experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience on major construction projects, infrastructure, utilities, HV or substation projects. The post would suit someone who is looking to transition into a new industry from the oil and gas field if they have experience of lifting operations and temporary related work.
