Reports To: Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer
Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for the technical supervision, planning, organization, and daily execution of civil engineering construction activities, with a primary focus on underground telecom infrastructure projects in compliance with Du and Etisalat specifications. The role involves managing on-site resources, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and authority regulations.
1. Site Execution and Supervision
- Execute the work as per approved Method Statements, specifications, IFC drawings, and quality standards.
- Supervise daily site activities, ensuring proper workflow, and coordinating with foremen and supervisors to meet daily targets.
- Monitor manpower, productivity, and equipment use, assigning required resources prior to execution.
- Plan and analyze possible construction methodologies and recommend options for approval.
- Plan the execution of all Project related works and coordinate the works to electrical, telecom, and civil groups.
2. Technical Compliance and Quality Control
- Interpret construction drawings and applicable standards or specifications prior to execution of any jobs.
- Ensure all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the project specifications and standards, especially those specific to Du and Etisalat.
- Conduct inspections and ensure work complies with project quality standards. Ensure that all site works are done according to all applicable quality standards and fill stage-wise ISO checklists.
- Manage directly and provide technical support to all work groups at the site.
- Prepare and raise Inspection Requests (IRs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) for any discrepancies or missing details in drawings.
- Assist in preparing shop drawings and as-Built Drawings (AutoCAD and GIS) for new projects or modifications.
3. Safety and HSE Management
- Directly responsible for the safety of all personnel of the project by ensuring the project execution follows all applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ensure all activities follow approved safety procedures and company HSE policies.
- Report near misses and incidents, participate in emergency preparedness, and report workplace hazards regularly.
- Ensure compliance of safety measures through regular Tool Box Talks (TBTs).
4. Progress Reporting and Coordination
- Submit site daily reports, inspection requests, and all applicable monitoring reports.
- Maintain updated logs for drawings, RFIs, and site correspondence.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants, and follow up on their progress and technical requirements.
- Provide weekly and monthly progress updates to the planning department.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Proven professional experience in civil works and infrastructure construction, with demonstrable experience specific to telecom infrastructure projects with major UAE operators, including Du and Etisalat.
- License: Valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical difficulties on-site. Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications. Excellent knowledge of Quality, HSE, and project management principles.
