About this role

Job Summary

The MEP Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and supervising all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works throughout the project lifecycle. The role ensures that MEP systems are designed, installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, budget, schedule, and applicable safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all MEP activities from design coordination through project completion.
  • Develop and monitor MEP work schedules to ensure alignment with the overall project program.
  • Coordinate MEP works with civil, structural, architectural, and finishing activities.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.

 

Technical Coordination

  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and material submittals.
  • Resolve technical issues in collaboration with consultants, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, local authority regulations, and project specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews and value engineering initiatives.

 

Site Management

  • Supervise MEP engineers, supervisors, inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure work is executed according to approved drawings, method statements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections and approvals with consultants and relevant authorities.
  • Monitor productivity and optimize labor, equipment, and material resources.

 

Quality Assurance and Commissioning

  • Ensure compliance with the project's Quality Management System.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and functional performance of all MEP systems.
  • Verify completion of snagging, rectification, and final inspections.
  • Ensure proper documentation, operation manuals, warranties, and as-built drawings are prepared for project handover.

 

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure all MEP works comply with HSE policies and statutory regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through regular inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions where required.

 

Cost and Commercial Management

  • Monitor MEP budgets and control project costs.
  • Review subcontractor progress, payment applications, and variations.
  • Support procurement by reviewing technical specifications and evaluating suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or performance.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, utility providers, and local authorities.
  • Attend project meetings and present MEP progress updates.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical and contractual issues affecting project delivery.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional engineering registration or relevant certifications are an advantage.

 

Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in MEP construction and project delivery.
  • At least 5 years in an MEP management role.
  • Experience managing high-rise, commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, or industrial projects.

 

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, and building management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and project coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and building handover processes.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and commercial management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and project management software; familiarity with BIM platforms is an advantage.

  • MEP works completed according to project schedule.
  • Compliance with budget and cost targets.
  • Quality and first-pass inspection approval rates.
  • Successful testing and commissioning outcomes.
  • HSE performance and incident rates.
  • Timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Client satisfaction and successful project handover.

 

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and construction site work.
  • Regular site inspections and coordination meetings.
  • Occasional extended working hours to meet project milestones and commissioning requirements.
