Position Summary

The Deputy Chief Global Compliance Officer (Deputy CGCO) in the Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) serves as the primary operational deputy and advisor for the global ethics and compliance program. Working under the strategic direction of the Chief Global Compliance Officer (CGCO), the Deputy CGCO operationalizes the program's vision, provides day-to-day administrative oversight to the University’s compliance efforts, and ensures adherence with international, federal, state, and local laws, as well as University policies and procedures. Provide critical oversight of compliance-related assessments, surveys, reviews, and audits. Direct the efficient operation of the university’s Reporting Line and related matter management processes to ensure compliance with the university’s policies and investigative protocol. Collaborate with the University’s Office of Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management (IA & ERM) in executing the day-to-day workflows of the Annual Institutional Risk Assessment process, specifically managing collaborative multi-SME panel reviews and assessments across priority compliance risk areas. Ensure that NYU’s legal, regulatory, and other institutional compliance risks are properly assessed, appropriate internal controls are implemented, and unit-level compliance risk owners are fully accountable for ongoing monitoring and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

Required Education:Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or international equivalentRequired Experience:7+ years relevant University compliance experience, including compliance management responsibility.Preferred Experience:10+ years Professional experience in legal, compliance or related areas, including experience managing a diverse team.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:In depth understanding of federal, state and local legislation, ability to read, interpret complex regulatory and legal documents and ability to communicate technical and complex concepts. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research and legal documentation procedures and requirements. Ability to communicate technical and complex concepts. Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; ability to respond effectively to confidential inquiries or complaints; excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work collegially with diverse personnel. Ability to work independently as a leader and as a member of a team.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $275,000.00 to USD $325,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
