About Us

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency in the Communities and Justice Portfolio. DCJ aims to achieve a safe, just and inclusive New South Wales by operating an effective legal system, increasing access to social and affordable housing, protecting children and families, addressing domestic and family violence, promoting public safety, reducing reoffending, and supporting community harmony and social cohesion.

DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and support for families through early intervention and inclusion, delivering services that are effective, responsive and focused on community needs.

Your Role

Lead the establishment and integration of the new Conduct Intake and Support function across the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW). Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will drive the ongoing implementation of a new operating model that strengthens the assessment, triage, management of workplace conduct matters and business support activities while ensuring agency-specific requirements are reflected in sustainable business solutions.

The role is responsible for providing leadership oversight of the intake and assessment of workplace conduct matters and business support functions, applying sound judgement to determine risk, seriousness and appropriate pathways for resolution. You will play a key role in improving governance, capability, consistency and procedural fairness across the conduct function.

What you’ll do

This is a unique executive leadership opportunity to shape and embed a contemporary conduct intake and business support model within one of NSW Government's largest and most complex agencies.

Reporting to the Group Director Conduct, you will:

  • Lead the implementation and integration of the new Conduct Intake and Support function across DCJ and CSNSW.
  • Provide expert advice and sound judgement on complex conduct, workplace behaviour, integrity and ethical standards matters.
  • Oversee intake, triage and assessment processes to support timely, consistent and procedurally fair decision-making.
  • Drive organisational change initiatives, ensuring stakeholders are engaged, informed and ready to adopt new ways of working.
  • Establish and embed governance frameworks, processes and tools that improve the management and resolution of conduct matters.
  • Lead the development of professional conduct committee processes and support sound decision-making by delegated authorities.
  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders, People teams, operational stakeholders and external integrity agencies to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Design and deliver capability uplift initiatives that strengthen stakeholder understanding and engagement with conduct processes.
  • Monitor implementation outcomes, risks and performance, driving continuous improvement and enhanced service delivery.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability, capability and a positive workplace culture.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience managing conduct matters, ethical standards, and integrity-related complaints.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex organisational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at the executive level.
  • Proven capability to lead high-performing teams and deliver outcomes in complex, sensitive, and high-profile environments.
  • Sound judgement, strong analytical skills, and the ability to balance operational priorities with strategic objectives.
