As a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

Propulsion Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to be a Rocket Motor Assembly Engineering Product Owner (EPO) that will provide expertise and leadership for our Rocket Motor Assembly Design and Analysis team in our Promontory UT office. This position will lead a technical team of analysts and design engineers responsible for drawing and model preparation, on-floor manufacturing support and MRB resolution, test support including authoring and reviewing plans and reports, and coordination with internal and external customers on primarily Promontory‑based solid rocket motor programs.

This role will require strong understanding of the Rocket Motor Assembly design and analysis process as well as strong communication skills to coordinate work with program leadership, and personally contribute to the Rocket Motor Assembly engineering discipline.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Perform the required duties as the Engineering Product Owner (EPO) for the Rocket Motor Assembly design element, specifically for the Sentinel program.

· Support the demands from the Rocket Motor Assembly IPT/VSET as the design authority and technical owner of the Rocket Motor Assembly discipline

· Integrate with development teams (including specialists in Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Thermal, Structural, Materials, and Test) to certify design solutions that meet all requirements (technical, cost, schedule)

· Lead a team of engineers to support the project needs and demands from the Rocket Motor Assembly design team

· Create engineering drawings, CAD models, revisions, test plans, reports and specifications that support the Rocket Motor Assembly design elements

· Provide Rocket Motor Assembly MRB support; including final dispositions, root cause identification, corrective action, process improvement, risk assessments

· Develop and present documentation for project related meetings to internal and external customers; including critical design reviews, MRB closure, and risk posture, etc.

· Perform problem solving/anomaly resolution including on-floor production support

· Ensure work products meet safety, performance, and quality requirements

· Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 6 years of professional experience.

· Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

· Engineering analysis experience (preferably structural and/or ballistic)

· Design engineering experience with solid rocket motors, preferably with Rocket Motor Assembly products

· Demonstrated experience setting priorities and managing competing demands across multiple programs or projects

· Strong communication skills for both formal and informal settings

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience creating and revising engineering drawings, specifications, plans, reports

· MRB (Material Review Board) support and closure

· Analysis experience in structural PLI and/or ballistics

· Working understanding of materials used in liner, barrier, and propellant systems at NG Propulsion Systems

· Prior experience in technical lead, team lead, or project lead role in a propulsion or similar high consequence environment.

· Rocket Motor Assembly product design and production support

· Ability to clearly present technical information in written reports and formal presentations

· Previous experience at Northrop Grumman

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
