At Northrop Grumman UK, you are part of a team driving innovation where it matters most, solving tomorrow's challenges and shaping the technology solutions of the future. It's what we call Defining Possible.

This mindset goes beyond our customer solutions. It's the foundation for your career development and the positive impact we make for our customers, communities and one another.

This is more than just a job. It's a mission.

We are looking for an Avionics Repair Technician (ART) to join our team in Chester, supporting the repair, testing and movement of critical avionic equipment used in demanding operational environments.

This is a varied and hands-on role that combines technical repair activities with logistics, compliance, facility support and customer coordination. Working within a small, collaborative team, you'll play an important role in ensuring equipment is repaired, processed and delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with strict quality and regulatory standards.

Following a structured induction and training programme, you will work with a limited degree of supervision while supporting both site operations and wider programme delivery.

What you'll be doing

  • Diagnose, repair and process avionic equipment using approved technical procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate technical, engineering and compliance records to support audit, traceability and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate shipping, export and logistics activities, including packaging, documentation, equipment dispatch and receipt.
  • Support site operations through inventory management, forklift operation, facilities checks, visitor coordination and contractor administration.
  • Assist with environmental, health and safety activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and safe working practices.
  • Provide flexible support to engineering, programme and field service teams, including occasional travel for equipment collection, delivery or off-site operational activities.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Ability to obtain and maintain UK Government SC Security Clearance.
  • Experience in the repair, maintenance or testing of electronic or avionic systems, ideally within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and work within defined procedures and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting logistics, administration, inventory control or operational processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally in support of business requirements.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 4 in Electronics or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience working with military or civilian aircraft avionic systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise systems.
  • Forklift licence or willingness to undertake training.
  • First Aid at Work, Fire Marshal or similar EHS qualifications.

At Northrop Grumman UK, we understand that careers are built on potential as well as experience. If you're excited about this opportunity but don't meet every requirement, we'd still love to hear from you.
