Project Overview

Our client is undertaking a long-term SAP optimization initiative to improve the stability, security, and efficiency of SAP across its manufacturing operations. The program spans Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and IT, with a strong emphasis on standardization, compliance, and operational excellence.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Security Specialist to own and manage SAP security, roles, and authorizations across a complex manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring users have secure and appropriate access while supporting ongoing optimization initiatives, process improvements, and compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with SAP Security, role design, authorization concepts, and Segregation of Duties (SoD) within manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain SAP roles, profiles, and authorization objects.

  • Configure and manage transaction code access based on business and manufacturing requirements.

  • Create, modify, and optimize security roles using SAP security best practices.

  • Perform Segregation of Duties (SoD) analysis and implement remediation plans.

  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and IT teams to align security with business processes.

  • Manage user provisioning, access requests, role changes, and emergency (firefighter) access.

  • Troubleshoot authorization issues impacting production, plant operations, and business users.

  • Support SAP security during system enhancements, process optimization, and organizational changes.

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing security documentation and evidence.

  • Maintain compliance with corporate governance, security standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Recommend improvements to strengthen SAP security while supporting operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on SAP Security and Authorizations experience.

  • Strong experience designing and maintaining SAP roles and authorization concepts.

  • Experience managing SAP access for manufacturing, plant, warehouse, and corporate users.

  • Deep understanding of transaction-level security and authorization objects.

  • Experience supporting SAP in a live manufacturing or production environment.

  • Knowledge of Segregation of Duties (SoD), access controls, and security governance.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for SAP authorization and access-related issues.

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.

  • Experience with SAP GRC Access Control (or similar governance tools).

  • Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, inventory, production planning, or finance processes.

  • Experience supporting SAP optimization, transformation, or migration programs.

  • Knowledge of audit, compliance, and internal controls.

  • Experience working within automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
