Teacher of Physical Education (maternity replacement)
100% – from December 2026 to October 2027
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the teaching and learning of physical education throughout the whole school effectively
- Contribute to a programme of trips, excursions, fieldtrips and extracurricular activities
- Coordinate the school ski programme of ski days, residentials, ski club and ski team
- Lead and participate in primary and secondary winter and summer residential trips
- Lead and participate in the sports department residential trips
- Accompany the teams to sport tournaments
- Promote the health and safety of assigned classes
- Participate in professional development and contribute to regular staff training/meetings
- Enhance the professional standing of the teaching body
- Contribute to the development of a positive attitude between the physical education department and the wider community through cooperative relations, publications, competitions etc.
- Complete the role of a secondary school home room teacher each day
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in physical education with QTS status or equivalent
- Must be a competent skier who can navigate intermediate to difficult terrain, including race pistes. Experience of racing and a ski qualification would be an advantage
- Proven track record of excellence in teaching with at least three years’ experience, ideally in an international environment
- Knowledge and proven experience in teaching physical education in early years and primary
- Experience in managing trips and/or ski programmes is an advantage.
- Fluency in English, ability to speak French would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills and team player
- Have the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
- Strong organisation skills and use of technology for administration and teaching
- First aid qualification or willingness to achieve this
- Clear criminal extracts
- Valid work permit
