About this role
Clinical:
Diagnose and treat patients according to established standards of ‘best practice’. The General practitioner’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:
- To perform his duties in evaluating homecare and dialysis patients
The post holder examines, diagnoses, and treats patients as assigned.
Participate and perform ward rounds.
Assess and reassess inpatients as clinically appropriate.
Evaluate newly referred patients and assess admission illegibility.
Review appropriate referrals accepted by the facility.
Oversees the organization of tests, chases and records results.
Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely manner.
Reviews results of all investigation and modifies treatment in a timely manner.
Supervises and supports newly appointed physicians as determined by the physician in charge.
Liaises with other outsourced medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
Oversees preparation of patients for procedures and outsourced surgeries.
Provides coverage on a rotational basis including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Communicates information to patients and patients ‘families and friends’ (with consent of the patient or relatives) in a timely manner.
- Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care.
- Complies with all facility policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, procedures, prescribing and discharge protocols.
- Adheres to established policies regarding patient confidentiality and informed consent.
- Perform other clinical responsibilities as assigned.
