nLogic is seeking an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer to support anticipated work in the Fort Eustis, VA area. This role is aligned with upcoming proposal efforts and will play a key part in providing analysis and testing support to develop multiple stress and test reports and flight test instrumentation plans for multiple army aircraft projects, contingent upon contract award.

In this role, you will contribute to mission-critical efforts by applying your expertise in aerospace mechanical engineering while working alongside government and industry partners in a collaborative environment. This is an opportunity to be considered early for a high-impact effort supporting critical defense missions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing systems engineering and analysis support in the definition of technical performance measures used in test and evaluation, and for post-test data collection and analysis. Examples include but are not limited to subsystem or system level simulation evaluation, human-in-the-loop evaluation or field testing of multiple aircraft types, or representative avionics, mission computers, sensors, or weapons system.

  • Assisting in the development of modeling and simulation system environments, system architectures, and system verification plans for various R&D activities of the TDD-SID.

  • Generating substantiation documentation, designs, and drawings to support integration of candidate solutions onto U.S. Army aviation platforms. This work may be conducted independently or as a member of a larger team of designers and engineers. Substantiation packages must be in accordance with identified airworthiness requirements for particular aircraft platforms.

  • Conducting test preparation and support execution of testing or test-related activities for various R&D activities of the SID.
  • Aiding in developing and writing test plans and test reports and executing tests in accordance with developed test plans. Preparing structural load test plans that show detailed knowledge of airframe considered and expected load paths. Examples of other testing will include, but not be limited to, material testing, sub-component to full system testing, and environmental / electromagnetic testing (temperature, altitude, humidity, vibration, shock, electromagnetic interference and compatibility testing) in accordance with military and other appropriate engineering standards.

  • Creating stress and test reports that demonstrate that the “considered design” is in compliance with the original Prime Item Development Specifications, applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, and/or required maneuver, crash and fatigue loads for the applicable airframe.

  • Analyzing Resonance Assessment Profiles (RAP) testing and vibrational data collection and identifying potential resonance within 5% of rotor harmonics

  • Traveling up to 25% in support of mission requirements in the form of site surveys, technical interchange meetings, training, testing support, and other critical tasks outside of the JBLE facilities. This includes assisting with equipment packing and movement as per mission requirements.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope Secret security clearance required
  • Senior Level
    • Must demonstrate the ability to oversee the efforts of the technical and less senior staff for the implementation and development of duties listed and to support airworthiness process with engineering expertise to implement technology insertion, implement and sustain engineering cognizance, and perform other engineering functions of TDD-SID’s delegated airworthiness authority’s mission throughout the aircraft system life cycle in accordance with AR 70-62, Airworthiness of Aircraft Systems and references therein
    • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program including classical analysis, finite element analysis software tools, fatigue analysis and the ability to make finite / infinite life assessments and 8+ years of experience with the generation of test plans, analysis, and reports specific to aviation and/or R&D programs. Ability to present these findings at technical interchange meetings and senior level briefings.
    • OR, a Master's Degree in the field of Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program including classical analysis, finite element analysis software tools, fatigue analysis and the ability to make finite / infinite life assessments and 6+ years of experience with the generation of test plans, analysis, and reports specific to aviation and/or R&D programs. Ability to present these findings at technical interchange meetings and senior level briefings. 
  • Journeyman Level
    • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program including classical analysis, finite element analysis software tools, fatigue analysis and the ability to make finite / infinite life assessments and 2+ years of experience with the generation of test plans, analysis, and reports specific to aviation and/or R&D programs. Ability to present these findings at technical interchange meetings and senior level briefings.
    • OR, a Master's Degree in the field of Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program including classical analysis, finite element analysis software tools, fatigue analysis and the ability to make finite / infinite life assessments and 1+ years of experience with the generation of test plans, analysis, and reports specific to aviation and/or R&D programs. Ability to present these findings at technical interchange meetings and senior level briefings.

  • Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000–$165,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, certifications, security clearance level, geographic location, contract labor category, and applicable government contract requirements. This position is contingent upon contract award.
