Embedded Developer - System Analysis, Troubleshooting & Development

Linköping · Hybrid

About this role

Do you enjoy analyzing complex problems, troubleshooting issues, and testing your solutions in real-world environments? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

We are currently looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team supporting a customer in the manufacturing industry, specializing in material handling solutions. In this role, you will work on developing, improving, and maintaining control systems. It is an excellent fit for someone who thrives on technical challenges and enjoys being involved throughout the entire process—from analysis and troubleshooting to implementation and verification.

You will be employed as a consultant by Nexer Engineering, with your home office based in Linköping.

About the Role

You will become part of a team responsible for handling:

  • Customer-reported issues

  • Improvement requests from users and sales organizations across Europe

  • Development of new functionality

The work is varied, and priorities can change quickly when critical issues arise. We are therefore looking for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where problem-solving is at the heart of the role. A significant part of your work will involve analyzing systems, identifying root causes of issues, developing solutions, and verifying them through testing on physical products.

Development is primarily carried out in Structured Text (IEC 61131-3).

Who You Are

You have a background in embedded software development and are comfortable working with C/C++. At the same time, you're not someone who only wants to write new code all day—you find troubleshooting, analysis, and understanding how complete systems work just as rewarding.

We believe you:

  • Have experience developing software in C/C++, preferably for embedded or hardware-near systems.

  • Have strong analytical skills and enjoy technical troubleshooting.

  • Work in a structured manner while thriving in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.

  • Enjoy combining software development with hands-on work and testing in a laboratory environment.

  • Are a collaborative team player with strong communication skills.

Experience with Structured Text/PLC programming, CANbus and working with physical products is considered an advantage but is not required.

The team works in an agile environment using a combination of Scrum and Kanban. Collaboration is close, and everyone works together to quickly solve the highest-priority challenges.

Application

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you and you believe Nexer could be your next employer, we would love to receive your application! Please note that we do not accept applications via email.
