Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week

Role Overview:

The Business Analyst will play a foundational role on a newly formed Discovery team, focused on uncovering, documenting, and analyzing existing business processes that support life insurance policy administration and related operations.

This role is focused on deep process discovery, institutional knowledge capture, and fact‑based clarity to enable modernization, simplification, and system replacement efforts. The analyst will work closely with business SMEs, product owners, and technology partners to establish a clear and shared understanding of how work is performed today (“as‑is”) and where complexity, risk, and opportunity exist.

What You’ll Do:

Business Process Discovery & Documentation

  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and working sessions with business and technology SMEs
  • Document as‑is processes, workflows, decision points, handoffs, controls, and exceptions
  • Identify undocumented knowledge, manual workarounds, and service processes

Analysis & Insight

  • Analyze discovered processes to identify complexity, duplication, risk, and inefficiency
  • Highlight system dependencies, integration touchpoints, and data handoffs
  • Surface gaps between documented processes and actual execution
  • Identify candidate areas for simplification, standardization, or elimination

Knowledge Enablement for Modernization

  • Produce clear, structured artifacts (process maps, narratives, inventories) that can be consumed by:
    • Product teams
    • Architects and engineers
    • QA and test teams
    • Program and delivery leadership
  • Support downstream modernization activities by providing factual process context for:
    • System replacement decisions
    • Decommissioning strategies
    • Migration planning
    • Scope and dependency definition

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build trusted relationships with technical, business and service partners
  • Translate complex operational behavior into clear, technology‑agnostic language
  • Communicate findings concisely to technical and business audiences

What You’ll Bring:

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Process Analyst, or similar role
  • 4+ years of experience in Life Insurance or similar industry
  • Demonstrated experience in business process discovery and documentation
  • Strong facilitation and interviewing skills, especially with SMEs and operations teams
  • Ability to synthesize complex, ambiguous information into clear artifacts
  • Experience working with legacy systems and large enterprise environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in life insurance, financial services, or regulated industries
  • Familiarity with policy administration, servicing, underwriting, billing, or claims processes
