The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Purpose
  • Support the Transportation and Logistics Regional Manager in the development, implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont’s Transportation and Logistics strategy, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives across the Supply Chain.
  • Lead and oversee all site logistics activities including import and export operations of products and by-products, ensuring full compliance with local and international customs regulations, and Newmont Global Trade Compliance standards.
  • Ensure all transportation planning, modal execution, customs processes and contractor management activities are performed efficiently, safely and in compliance with governmental regulations and Newmont procedures, while delivering value through risk management, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive operational excellence by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and execute optimization projects and sustainable cost savings initiatives.
Essential Duties
  • Lead and support site teams in the development, implementation and execution of Newmont’s Transportation and Logistics strategy, driving continuous improvement, optimization initiatives and cost savings projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage end-to-end transportation and logistics operations, including planning, execution and performance monitoring across all transportation modes, ensuring optimal cost and service performance.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs, metrics and reporting to ensure visibility of logistics performance, including cost, service levels, transit times and supply chain impact.
  • Lead export operations for all site products and by-products, ensuring compliance with applicable customs, legal and regulatory requirements, as well as Newmont Global Trade Compliance standards.
  • Oversee import processes, ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements and internal procedures.
  • Ensure functional understanding and user-level capability in customs systems such as ASYCUDA (Automated System for Customs Data), supporting compliant customs declarations and processes.
  • Analyze logistics market conditions, including pricing, service levels, capacity and technology solutions, to support informed decision-making and supplier strategies.
  • Manage and oversee logistics contracts and service providers, including LLP (Lead Logistics Provider), 3PL providers and other contractors, ensuring performance management, compliance and value delivery.
  • Implement and sustain risk management practices for transportation and logistics, including the development of a site risk profile, identification of critical
    risks, and execution of mitigation strategies to protect people, assets and continuity of operations.
  • Lead and actively promote a strong Safety Culture aligned with Newmont’s Safety objectives, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, social responsibility and regulatory requirements. Drive engagement through participation in Transportation Safety Committees, coordination of drills and emergency response preparedness, and reinforcement of safe behaviors and continuous learning across logistics operations and contractors.
  • Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on operational excellence, optimization projects and measurable cost savings.
  • Lead, develop and manage team members, ensuring effective talent management, performance evaluation, coaching and succession planning.
  • Demonstrate and promote commitment to Newmont Values, Inclusion and Diversity, Social Responsibility and ethical conduct.
  • Support customs processes, including HAZMAT, ESR and freight forwarding activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership in line with business needs.
Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Transportation and Logistics operations, including Import and Export processes, International Trade regulations and Global Trade Compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of contractor and logistics service management, including LLP and 3PL models. Experience:
  • Seven (7)+ years of experience across Warehousing, Transportation, Customs and Logistics Management, with demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and external service providers.
  • Experience in international logistics, customs operations and trade compliance is required.
  • Mining experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • User-level knowledge of customs systems such as ASYCUDA or similar.Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise systems.
  • Project Management and Continuous Improvement capabilities.
