Purpose

An Engineer Piping is required to improve reliability , integrity and minimize the downtime of process piping, tanks, fixed cranes and pressure vessels in the Lihir Gold Mine and Processing Plant, by applying industry best practice, knowledge of the relevant standards and codes, and practical site-based experience.

Essential Duties
  • Maintaining the defects register and temporary repair registers.
  • Reviewing the statutory inspection reports received for pressure vessels, Fixed Cranes, PSVs, Piping and tanks
  • Review the defects and develop scopes that are required to rectify the repair
  • Management of the statutory inspection strategies for Pressure vessels, PSVs, Piping, Tanks and Fixed Cranes
  • Managing the ongoing site pipe inspection campaign
  • Specifying the piping repairs required as noted by the inspection
  • Immediate temporary repairs and permanent repairs / pipe spool replacement
  • Scoping the work and performing Quality Assurance of the completed wor
  • Specifying the repairs required to rectify defects as noted by the inspections for
  • Tanks (API 653 compliant
  • Pressure Vessels (AS1210 & ASME VIII
  • Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping (PCC-2
  • Generation of fitness for service assessments for non-compliant equipment (as per AS3788 & API579
  • Generation of risk assessments related to equipment that has known integrity issue
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigation on systems and equipment, as required

  • API 579 / ASME Fitness for Service (FFS)
  • API RP 571 Damage Mechanisms

  • SAP Maintenance Module
  • Microsoft office suite (Excel advanced user preferred)
  • AS2550.1 General Requirements of Cranes
  • AS2550.3 Bridge, Gantry, Jib and monorail cranes
  • Able to be an effective team leader (where applicable) by establishing and maintaining a positive and productive work environment through listening, dealing with different points of view, giving and receiving feedback.
Working Conditions

Reporting to the Supervisor Asset Integrity, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and reliability of piping systems, pressure vessels, tanks, and fixed cranes across the Lihir processing plant. Your work will directly contribute to safe operations, reduced downtime, and long-term asset performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing piping and pressure equipment integrity programs.
  • Reviewing statutory inspection reports and identifying corrective actions.
  • Developing repair scopes for piping, tanks, pressure vessels, and associated infrastructure.
  • Managing defect and temporary repair registers.Coordinating ongoing inspection campaigns and integrity initiatives.
  • Conducting fitness-for-service assessments and risk assessments.
  • Supporting root cause failure investigations and reliability improvements
