Industrial Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing repairs on manufacturing and packaging machinery/equipment, motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems with minimum supervision. Additionally, this position performs scheduled preventative maintenance, overhauls, and installs equipment under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Performs preventive maintenance to ensure reliable safe operation of production and packaging equipment.
Maintain records pertinent to equipment performance - necessary repairs and downtime via PMs and completion of work orders.
Makes suggestions/implements solutions to improve the reliability and safety of equipment.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and use maintenance troubleshooting techniques to locate causes of trouble and repair as necessary, minimizing production downtime.
Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear; replace defective parts and reassemble equipment.
Conduct repairs, including motor replacements, gearbox fixes, and other essential machine component repairs, often with minimal supervision.
Work with industrial electrical controls to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and machinery including all three phase 480, 240 and other plant systems.
Routinely cleans and lubricate parts as part of preventive maintenance.
Operates maintenance equipment like milling machines, lathes, and other specialized tools crucial for task completion.
Follow company’s good manufacturing and safety policies and procedures.
Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Knowledge

2–4 years of experience in maintenance or a related field (electrical, electronic controls, and mechanical)
Knowledge of PLC-based machine controls, HMI interfaces, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo/motor drive systems, including interpreting fault codes, alarm history, and diagnostic data
In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems.
Working knowledge of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical manufacturing equipment such as tablet presses, capsule fillers, and automated packaging lines, and the ability to read and apply OEM technical and service manuals for that equipment.
Knowledge of PLC-based machine controls, HMI interfaces, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo/motor drive systems, including the ability to interpret fault codes, alarm history, and diagnostic data to troubleshoot equipment-specific electronic faults.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.

Preferred Knowledge

Working knowledge of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical manufacturing equipment such as tablet presses, capsule fillers, and automated packaging lines, with the ability to read and apply OEM technical and service manuals

Experience Required

2–4 years of experience in maintenance or a related field (electrical, electronic controls, and mechanical)
Successful completion of an applicable trades training program or equivalent will be considered in lieu of experience.

Skills / Abilities

General troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic/controls (PLC, VFD, servo drives), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Proficient computer skills in Word, Outlook, and navigating electronic equipment manuals, OEM documentation portals, and CMMS or other digital maintenance knowledge base systems.
The ability to verbally communicate with a wide range of internal customers.
The ability to update logs, records and general maintenance records as needed.
Ability to search, cross-reference, and apply information from multi-hundred-page OEM electronic manuals and troubleshooting documentation to diagnose and resolve equipment faults.
Can comprehend and act on technical information related to the preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of equipment, machinery, and tools.
Good time-management skills.
Ability to pass a respirator fit test.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment wearing personal protective equipment including a lab coat, hairnet, beard cover (if applicable), dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses. Hearing protection may also be required at times.
