System Engineer - Humanoid (human)
About this role
At the forefront of humanoid robotics, our Systems Engineering team is responsible for turning the vision of the 4NE1 Humanoid robot into a robust, scalable, and commercially successful product.
We bridge the gap between product strategy and technical execution by translating customer, market, and business needs into system-level requirements, architectures, and validation strategies. Working across mechanical design, electronics, controls, AI, perception, embedded software, and safety teams, you will ensure that 4NE1 functions as a cohesive robotic system capable of operating safely and effectively alongside humans.
Your work will span everything from requirements engineering and architecture definition to system integration, verification, and deployment, helping bring next-generation humanoid robots from prototype to production.
If you are passionate about complex robotic systems and enjoy solving challenges at the intersection of hardware and software, we offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of humanoid robotics.
Your Mission & Challenges
The Bridge: Drive the development of the 4NE1 humanoid platform by translating customer, product, and business requirements into structured, traceable system requirements. Contribute to the definition of system architecture and ensure alignment between functional objectives and technical implementation.
Collaborate and Align: Define system boundaries, interfaces, and subsystem responsibilities across robotics software, perception, manipulation, locomotion, controls, embedded systems, electronics, and mechanical engineering teams. Ensure seamless interaction between all components of the humanoid platform. Ability to understand and reason about interactions between locomotion, manipulation, perception, power systems, embedded software, and AI at a complete robot level.
Drive Integration: Lead system-level integration and validation activities for complex humanoid capabilities such as locomotion, manipulation, human-robot interaction, autonomy, and safety functions. Define verification methods, acceptance criteria, and validation strategies.
Own System Scope: Establish and maintain key systems engineering artifacts, including requirements specs, architecture, interface definitions and traceability documentation. Contribute to technical reviews, design reviews, architecture reviews, and product lifecycle milestones
End-to-End Execution: Support system integration from early prototypes through production-ready humanoid robots. Analyze system-level performance, identify cross-functional issues, coordinate root cause investigations, and drive resolution across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience in supporting deployment of robotic systems in customer-facing or production environments.
