JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising (Oakland campus) is part of a leadership team that is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and assessment of student advising services on the Northeastern University Oakland campus. The Assistant Director works in partnership with the Director of Global Undergraduate Academic Advising in hiring, supervising and training staff; supports implementation of advising-related technology; provides academic advisement to students; coordinates special advising related projects to support student retention and university goals, and best practices in advising. It is critical that the Assistant Director works to foster a welcoming, nurturing, and belonging environment for all students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or other relevant fields required, with 2-3 years relevant advising experience, including supervisory experience; experience working with diverse student populations; excellent oral and written communication skills; understanding of educational requirements and advising processes; demonstrated technology proficiency with various software applications; strong organizational skills; experience working as part of a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintain a caseload of student to provide overall guidance to students on their academic goals. Interpret and explain academic policies and procedures to students; monitor students’ academic progress and performance to ensure students are on track for timely completion of degree requirements; make referrals to faculty, staff and support offices.
- Provide day-to-day management of the Oakland Advising team. Hire, supervise, mentor and train Academic Advisors. Support duties include maintaining student records and updating appropriate advising platforms. Assist with orientation. Represent Oakland campus advising on relevant committees. Help advising team troubleshoot issues relating to students and parents.
- Collaborate with the Director while working to increase the quality of student support, and to identify and develop retention strategies that support university goals. Maintain strong relationships with campus and university departments such as the Registrar, Student Financial Services, WeCare, University Health and Counselling. Implement strategic advising plans based on assessment and evaluation of data.
- Other: Teach introductory course(s). Collaborate with team members to develop syllabi and course content. Grade all material submitted by students, keep attendance record and issue final grades.

$74,640.00 - $105,427.50With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
