The Food Safety Coordinator will lead and ensure effective implementation of the Food Safety Management System, including HACCP and all Pre-Requisite Programs.

 

A day in the life…

 

Reporting to the QA Manager, key responsibilities include but not limited to: 

 

  • Ensure effective implementation of the HACCP program; including, but not limited to, HACCP plan review and revision; alignment with QMS and SAP inspection plans; and verification and validation of control measures; validations and verification on foreign body detection devices.
  • Support Hygienist in defining, implement and verify the effectiveness of the PRPs related to food safety and hygiene; including, but not limited to, Zoning; Pest Management; Cleaning Validation & Verification; Pathogen Monitoring; Foreign Body prevention; Hygiene & Housekeeping; Allergen Management; and GMP.
  • Ensure Food capex project implementation and alignment with QA Manager on Food Safety Capex allocation.
  • Adherence to Contaminant monitoring programme.
  • Ensure current PIFs are maintained for all materials and vendor sites.
  • Support the NPD process through the risk assessment of new raw materials and processes (including SAP workflow and NPDI) and ensuring completion of the pHACCP. Be the NPD link to the QA team.
  • Support engineering projects by conducting risk assessments and providing advice about cleanability, hygienic design, and site standards on equipment design and plant layout.
  • Support the Maintenance and Industrial Services teams by providing technical support for programs such as contamination risks from maintenance activities; closed water loop compliance; etc.
  • Participate in the factory's internal audit programme.
  • Ensure the performance of structured root cause analysis after incidents related to food safety or hygiene failures have occurred.
  • Own and deliver training related to HACCP, housekeeping, hygiene and other food safety elements.
  • Actively participate in NCE & TPM pillars and activities, delivering to the requirements outlined in the methodology.

 

What will make you successful

 

  • Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be self-motivated, proactive and have a proven capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science or related field of study.
  • Preferred minimum 3 years' experience as a quality specialist, preferably in HACCP.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality.
  • Passionate about working for Nestlé and sharing its purpose.
