Pay Range: $66,904 – 82,961 annually (Plus Incentive) 

 

Job Description: Your Piece of the Puzzle 

 

Nebraska Furniture Mart’s Buyer is responsible for developing line ups, assortment plans and collaborating with the planning team to ensure the department has a range of merchandise that reflects the categories strategic plans and the overall merchandise strategy. This position will be responsible for buying in the categories of Wall Decor, Mirrors and Lighting.  

 

This is a hybrid position that requires onsite work in the Omaha location based on business needs. 

 

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

  • Manage:  Ensure pricing is aligned with company pricing strategy, competitive forces and product differentiation.
  • Collaborate:  Work with the merchandise team to build strategic plans for their department, maximize space allocation and develop merchandise financial plans.
  • Analyze: Review competitor analysis and evaluate product direction, price and promotional activity.
  • Develop: Create and execute a competitive sales promotion strategy by vendor and category assortment.
  • Ensure: Guarantee range assortment and line up are aligned with market and customer expectations.
  • Evaluate: Assess vendors in terms of their capabilities and legal compliance.
  • Negotiate: Effectively negotiate with vendors, maximizing funding and rebates to minimize costs prices and increase profitability.

Qualifications: Can You Check These Boxes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, related field or equivalent experience
  • 2 years buying, re-buying or planning experience
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and/or early morning hours based on business needs
  • Ability to travel to all store locations on a regular basis.
  • Pre-employment screening includes, but isn’t limited to, criminal background check
