Position Summary
The 3PL Operations Lead supports the warehouse supervisor/manager in driving daily performance across inbound and outbound operations for a large third-party logistics (3PL) account, handling approximately 50-250 pallets inbound and outbound per day. This role leads a team of 5 warehouse associates, delivers an exceptional customer experience, and drives inventory accuracy across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate daily inbound and outbound activities, including maintaining delivery schedules across LTL, Full Truckload, and container shipments
Directly supervise a team of 5 associates, providing daily leadership, task assignment, and performance management for inbound and outbound functions
Assist with new item quality checks and new item setup processes
Manage inbound returns and partner with internal and external teams to resolve discrepancies quickly and effectively
Design and refine process workflows to improve overall departmental productivity and throughput
Monitor and audit receipt and shipment transactions; recommend process changes to ensure adherence to corporate policy and reduce inventory shrinkage
Collaborate with Purchasing, IT, and Customer Service teams to research and resolve inventory discrepancies between systems, carriers, and customer accounts
Generate, modify, and analyze reports from WMS, ERP, TMS, and other data sources to monitor inventory movement, optimize slotting, and resolve inventory issues
Proactively manage damaged shipments and lot-control information to maintain high in-stock levels and customer satisfaction
Help maintain a safe work environment through daily monitoring of employee activity, constructive coaching, and weekly safety training sessions
Perform other duties as assigned
QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education
Must have High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
Associates degree or higher preferred
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment
Minimum 1 year of experience in a leadership role
Knowledge/Skills
Ability to proactively solve problems is critical
Personal Computer/System literacy is required, including but not limited to: proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, WMS, TMS, ERP data warehousing tools such as Sales Cube, COGNOS, or Business Objects...etc
Previous forklift experience
Strong skills in planning, analysis, organizing and team building
Excellent people skills, motivational ability and a positive attitude are key to success.
Spanish language proficiency preferred
