Davenport Machinist

Job Summary
RAF Electronic Hardware a part of MW Components is seeking an experienced Davenport Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Davenport screw machines to produce high-quality precision components that meet customer specifications and production standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience in precision manufacturing, and the ability to independently perform machine setups, inspections, and maintenance activities in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently set up and operate Davenport screw machines, including metal material feeds.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Davenport machinery.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and assist other machinists with setups and production challenges.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
- Conduct visual inspections and complete in-process inspection documentation.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, including calipers, verniers, thread gauges, and micrometers.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Follow all quality standards, operating procedures, and customer requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience setting up and operating manual lathe machines or similar equipment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in precision component manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience setting up and operating Davenport machines.
- Screw machine experience highly preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining production machinery.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with screw machining operations.
- Ability to operate heavy manufacturing equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and movement of materials.
- Regular exposure to machine oils and manufacturing lubricants.
- Exposure to moderate-to-high noise levels and manufacturing environments with limited ventilation.
- Ability to frequently lift and move materials and finished goods weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around moving machinery and production equipment.

- Full-Time or Part-Time, flexible start times
- Monday through Friday
