About this role

The Role

As a Legal & Compliance Executive, you'll play a supporting role in cross-border licensing and regulatory work, guided by senior colleagues. Your responsibilities will include helping prepare and coordinate regulatory submissions, compliance paperwork, and liaison with regulators, external consultants, and client teams spanning several jurisdictions.

This is a practical, execution-focused position within a startup setting. As priorities shift and workflows continue to evolve, you'll need to remain organized, responsive, and flexible. It's an ideal fit for someone who thrives on learning through hands-on projects and wants exposure to international regulatory work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior colleagues across regulatory licensing projects, including:
  • Helping prepare and file new license applications
  • Assisting with license renewals and ongoing compliance checks
  • Supporting M&A deals involving licensed entities — including document preparation and coordination
  • Help manage communication and coordination with regulators and authorities in multiple jurisdictions
  • Assist in coordinating with internal and external parties, such as:
  • Local auditors and accounting firms
  • Consultants and law firms
  • Clients' legal, compliance, and management teams
  • Monitor licensing timelines and regulatory deadlines, keeping records and documentation well-organized
  • Help compile materials and information needed for license submissions and regulatory correspondence
  • Research licensing requirements, corporate governance standards, and regulatory frameworks relevant to client structures
  • Track regulatory developments and flag relevant updates to the team
  • Help identify and coordinate third-party service providers as needed
  • Take on ad-hoc legal, compliance, and regulatory tasks as directed by senior staff or management

What You Will Learn

  • Real-world exposure to cross-border financial and crypto licensing processes
  • How regulated payment and crypto businesses function across different markets
  • Experience collaborating with international regulators, advisors, and compliance experts
  • Direct, hands-on involvement in live regulatory and licensing projects

Requirements

  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (spoken and written), to serve both European and Chinese-speaking clients
  • Solid legal drafting and contract review skills; a law degree or equivalent legal background is required (bar admission not necessary)
  • 1–2 years' experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, or similar roles; law graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered
  • Well-organized with strong coordination skills and close attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication, along with solid research and documentation capabilities
Nice to have:

  • Academic background or working knowledge of AML/CTF, KYC, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance
  • Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders across different regions and time zones
  • Tech-savvy, proactive, and keen to learn in a fast-moving environment
  • Genuine interest in financial services, payments, fintech, or crypto
