Mustang Cat is actively hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians for both shop and field service roles in El Campo, Texas. In this hands-on position, you'll repair and maintain Caterpillar construction equipment—from compact machinery to large earthmoving units—supporting job sites and customers across the region.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a skilled diesel mechanic who enjoys diagnostics, independence, and the satisfaction of returning machines to top performance.
🛠️ What You’ll Do as a Heavy Equipment Technician:
As a Caterpillar Diesel Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing diesel-powered equipment both in the shop and out in the field. Responsibilities include:
• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied-brand construction equipment
• Perform diagnostics using Cat ET and other software tools
• Service electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and undercarriage systems
• Complete preventative maintenance and parts installation
• Restore equipment to working condition in a shop or field setting
• Operate independently or collaborate with service mentors as needed

📋 Requirements:
• Must own the tools necessary to perform repairs
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, fuel systems
• Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Experience using Cat ET or similar diagnostic software
• Prior experience in construction equipment service or military equipment repair
✅ Strongly Preferred Experience:
• Welding and fabrication (MIG, arc welding, gouging, torch use)
• Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor components
• Manufacturer or dealership training in construction equipment repair
• Familiarity with Caterpillar or competitor brand machinery
Heavy Equipment Technician levels and compensation are based on skill set, experience, and training.
