Your Purpose

We are excited to be hiring for a Guarantee Engineer to join our growing Technical New Building Department. The Guarantee Engineer is responsible for the assessment, coordination and implementation of all the Guarantee Claims raised by the ship's officers throughout the entire guarantee period. Ensuring effective communication between all stakeholders involved in the process and the prompt resolution of priority claims.

Your Impact

  • Acts as the responsible person and primary contact between the ships, all the technical superintendents and the shipyards.
  • Demonstrates independency in the resolution of the Guarantees, taking care of the escalation when appropriate.
  • Ensures positive cashflow by making sure that the shipyards are refunding MSC for intervention which are taken care by MSC personnel, via the reconciliation process.
  • Attends interventions/meetings onboard whenever necessary.
  • Prepares the Guarantee monthly progress report.
  • Maintains and updates the guarantee claims database as well as coordinates onboard service interventions with the shipyard.
  • Prioritizes/addresses Main MSC guarantee claims that require immediate attention/action and coordinate with all parties involved accordingly.
  • Arranges and leads weekly conference calls with shipyard to further discuss/address/coordinate Main MSC guarantee claims.
  • Plans, coordinates and leads quarterly onboard guarantee meetings between MSC and the shipyard throughout the Guarantee period.
  • Provides leadership and effective guidance for the timely resolution of pending and open claims.
  • Ensures service intervention details and action plans are captured, communicated to the vessel in a timely manner and executed as planned.
  • Always maintains good working relations with the New Building team, the shipyards, and all stakeholders, MSC officers and superintendents
  • Ensures lessons learned are captured and communicated to project management teams as needed.
  • Issues regular updates, reports that will provide clear visibility into progress, challenges, costs and upcoming service intervention forecasts for the upcoming month.

Your Journey so far

  • Ability to read and comment technical drawings.
  • Good IT skills, particularly MS Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management and across multiple cultures
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, as well as the ability to work to tight schedules and endure challenging situations.
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Proactive and strong problem solving skills

Your Essentials

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Marine Engineering / Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in similar technical field.
  • Autonomous and highly motivated candidate, capable of mobilizing people/resources and actions effectively.
  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Fluent in English (spoken & written); knowledge of French or Italian is a plus.
  • Ability to easily travel to EU Shipyards and to the vessels (worldwide) regularly.
