System Analyst
About this role
Overview
- Support system enhancement, reporting, automation and digital initiatives across the Retirement Solutions platform.
- Contribute to scalable, maintainable and secure system solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and local business needs.
- Help strengthen HK technology capability by supporting cross-functional coverage across data, reporting, configuration and development activities.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, improve reporting efficiency and enhance system resilience.
- System Analysis & Requirements
- Analyze business, operational and system requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
- Validate requirements with relevant stakeholders to ensure they reflect real business needs, are clearly documented and can be delivered within agreed quality standards.
- Work with Business Analysts, Operations and Technology teams to clarify scope, dependencies, data needs and implementation approach.
Development, Configuration & Integration
- Perform hands-on coding, system development and configuration for business applications.
- Design, develop, test and deploy application features, enhancements, bug fixes and configuration changes.
- Configure systems and support integration with internal and external platforms, vendors and service providers.
- Support API, database and interface-related analysis, troubleshooting and implementation activities.
- Work within established SDLC, change management and DevOps practices, including code review, release support and deployment documentation.
Data, Reporting & Automation
- Support data extraction, SQL queries, data mapping, reconciliation and reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in developing reports, dashboards, automation routines and data outputs to support business operations and management reporting.
- Investigate data issues, reporting variances and exception trends, and work with relevant teams to resolve root causes.
- Maintain documentation for data logic, report definitions, configuration settings and technical processes to support continuity and knowledge transfer.
Testing, Support & Continuous Improvement
- Perform unit testing and support defect resolution during SIT/UAT and production implementation activities.
- Collaborate with Testers, Business Analysts and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are delivered in accordance with approved requirements and quality standards
- Support incident resolution, post-implementation review and continuous improvement of application stability and operational processes.
- Maintain technical specifications, configuration documents, user/support guides and other system documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with Technology, Operations, Business Analysis, Risk and vendor teams.
- Share knowledge across the team to reduce single-person dependency and improve continuity of support.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members where required.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, documentation, continuous learning and cross-skilling.
- Ensure development, configuration, data and reporting activities comply with internal IT standards, security requirements and change governance.
- Maintain system security, data integrity and appropriate controls over system changes, configuration and reporting outputs.
- Support audit, risk assessment and control activities relating to application changes, data usage and system processes.
- Ensure documentation is maintained to support operational resilience, knowledge transfer and business continuity.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in system analysis, application development, data/reporting, configuration or related technology roles.
- Hands-on programming experience in Java, .NET, Python or similar technologies.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with databases, data extraction, data mapping and reporting outputs.
- Experience in application configuration, system integration, APIs and interface support.
- Experience with reporting or analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS/SSIS, Alteryx or similar would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, DevOps practices and change/release management.
- Experience supporting testing activities, including unit testing, SIT, UAT and defect resolution.
- Ability to troubleshoot system, data and reporting issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Experience in financial services, pensions, MPF/ORSO, retirement solutions or regulated environments would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both business and technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to broaden technical capability across development, configuration, data and reporting to support team resilience and continuity.
