Shop Assistant

Position Overview

The Shop Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the shop by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This role assists mechanics and shop personnel with organizing tools, equipment, and materials, preparing equipment for service, and ensuring the shop operates efficiently to support field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist mechanics and shop personnel with daily shop operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, yard, and work areas.
  • Organize, clean, and stock tools, parts, and shop supplies.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials, equipment, and deliveries.
  • Fuel equipment and assist with basic preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Keep equipment, workstations, and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Dispose of waste materials and maintain housekeeping throughout the shop.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other shop support and construction-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a construction, shop, warehouse, or equipment environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
