Lift Director

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee crane, rigging, hoisting, and heavy lifting operations.
  • Develop, review, and approve standard and critical lift plans.
  • Review crane load charts, configurations, capacities, and operating conditions.
  • Evaluate jobsite conditions, including ground stability, crane positioning, access, and lifting areas.
  • Coordinate crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, ironworkers, Superintendents, and other field personnel.
  • Conduct pre-lift and pre-task meetings to review lift plans, communication procedures, responsibilities, and potential hazards.
  • Verify proper rigging equipment and procedures are used for each lift.
  • Monitor lifting operations to ensure work is performed safely and according to the approved lift plan.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and stop or modify lifting operations when necessary.
  • Maintain required lift plans, inspection records, and other documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project specifications.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Operations, Safety, and field leadership.
  • Support complex lifts, structural steel erection, heavy material placement, and other specialized lifting activities.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to crane and rigging crews.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of crane and rigging experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Lift Director, Rigging Supervisor, or in a comparable supervisory role.
  • NCCCO Lift Director Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, lift planning, and load charts.
  • Experience with mobile and/or crawler cranes.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA crane and rigging requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret lift plans, load charts, and technical documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in underground utilities, heavy civil, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction preferred.
  • Experience with Liebherr, Manitowoc, Link-Belt, or comparable crane equipment preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
