We are hiring a Senior Mission Analysis Engineer to support advanced space, satellite, and national security programs focused on mission analysis, modeling and simulation, constellation design, EO/IR image processing, and mission data processing algorithms. This role requires expertise in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, orbital mechanics, satellite systems, CONOPS development, and Design Reference Missions (DRMs) while supporting end-to-end mission performance validation for complex aerospace and defense systems requiring a Top Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead mission analysis, modeling, simulation, and technical performance assessments as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for programs, proposals, and advanced technology studies.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance large-scale satellite constellation simulations to evaluate mission effectiveness and validate customer requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) image processing algorithms from sensor collection through mission exploitation.
- Create high-fidelity payload and spacecraft models to support system trades, mission analysis, and technical performance predictions.
- Develop innovative algorithms, modeling techniques, and mission data processing solutions supporting MW/MT, Rendezvous & Proximity Operations (RPO), and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) missions.
- Architect Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and Design Reference Missions (DRMs) to support mission planning, validation, and operational readiness.
- Design and implement image processing, inertial tracking, state estimation, and optimal control algorithms for advanced sensor systems.
- Collaborate with software and firmware engineering teams to develop simulation environments, including software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platforms.
- Support end-to-end system integration, verification, validation, testing, and on-orbit mission performance analysis.
- Partner with engineering and program leadership to deliver mission solutions that meet technical, schedule, and customer objectives.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Ability to obtain an Interim and/or Final Top Secret Security Clearance after hire.
- Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of related engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience modeling and simulating complex aerospace or space systems.
- Strong proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, or similar modeling and simulation tools.
- Experience developing mission simulations, constellation analysis, and technical performance models.
- Knowledge of mission analysis, satellite systems, spacecraft performance, and mission data processing.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, national security, or space programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 6 candidates with Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of related experience.
- 9+ years of satellite design, spacecraft development, or on-orbit operations experience.
- Experience developing EO/IR optical system models and image processing algorithms.
- Familiarity with government image modeling tools including ASSET, PRA Toolkit, or AFSIM.
- Experience with orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, kinematic state estimation, and spacecraft guidance.
- Knowledge of satellite crosslink or space-to-space communication networks.
- Experience supporting Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO), Non-Maneuvering Characterization (NMC), or related orbital maneuver planning.
- Technical leadership experience including Responsible Engineering Authority (REA), Requirements Verification & Validation (V&V), Cost Account Management (CAM), and technical team leadership.
- Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
