Numerical Control Programmer

CATIA V5, CMM, & Laser Tracker

We are seeking an NC Programmer / Metrology Programmer with expertise in CATIA V5, GD&T, CMM programming, Laser Tracker systems, photogrammetry, and 3D measurement analysis to support aerospace manufacturing, tooling, and inspection operations. This role develops Machine Control Data (MCD), inspection programs, dimensional analysis reports, and nominal engineering models while supporting production assemblies, tooling, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 


 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, verify, revise, and maintain Machine Control Data (MCD), scripts, and inspection programs for numerically controlled manufacturing and inspection equipment.
  • Respond to work authorization requests including NCRs, CARs, IRTIs, RFAs, CMES IPs, Work Orders, QA investigations, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Analyze part and assembly dimensional tolerances and evaluate manufacturability and producibility requirements.
  • Create inspection plans and measurement programs for:
    • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
    • Laser Trackers
    • Photogrammetry Systems
    • ATOS Blue Light Scanners
    • Surphaser Systems
    • Portable Scanners
    • Portable Measurement Arms
  • Generate 2D Mylar and 3D CAD nominal data using released engineering documentation, loft data, and physical master tool measurements in accordance with established procedures.
  • Develop part and assembly indexing strategies for machining and inspection operations.
  • Create, update, and maintain Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and related documentation within CMES.
  • Analyze nominal versus measured data and prepare reports supporting:
    • Engineering studies
    • Lean improvement projects
    • Inspection reporting
    • Machine accuracy and stability testing
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Reverse engineering efforts
    • Product conformance verification
  • Support the development, integration, and implementation of new machining techniques, manufacturing methods, software solutions, and inspection technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance for manufacturing, inspection, tooling, and metrology processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Associate degree and typically 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor's degree with 1+ year of related experience, or 5+ years of related experience).
  • Experience programming and analyzing 3D measurement data for production assemblies, detail parts, tooling, and manufacturing applications.
  • Proficiency with dimensional measurement systems including:
    • Laser Tracker
    • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
    • Photogrammetry
    • Blue Light Scanning Technologies
  • Experience using NRK Spatial Analyzer software for dimensional analysis and measurement data evaluation.
  • Advanced 3D solid modeling experience using CATIA V5.
  • Experience creating nominal engineering data for legacy aerospace or manufacturing programs.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, metrology, inspection planning, dimensional control, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, models, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
  • Ability to develop machine control data, inspection plans, and measurement documentation supporting production and tooling operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting tooling development, assembly verification, and large-scale dimensional inspection activities.
  • Experience with reverse engineering, machine capability studies, and statistical process control initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CMES and non-conformance documentation processes.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
