We are hiring a Mission Analysis Engineer – Modeling & Simulation / EO-IR Satellite Systems to support advanced space and defense programs involving satellite constellation analysis, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) payload modeling, mission simulation, and mission performance assessment. This role develops end-to-end mission analysis tools, modeling and simulation platforms, image processing algorithms, and state estimation solutions while supporting national security space missions, satellite operations, and next-generation aerospace systems.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for mission modeling, simulation, and performance analysis supporting programs, studies, and proposals.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance high-fidelity simulations of large satellite constellations to evaluate mission effectiveness against customer and system requirements.
  • Design, develop, and optimize Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) image processing algorithms from photon collection through mission-level data exploitation.
  • Build payload performance models to support system trades, design decisions, and mission performance predictions.
  • Develop advanced algorithms for:
    • EO/IR sensing
    • Image processing
    • Inertial tracking
    • State estimation
    • Optimal control
    • Target tracking
  • Create and maintain Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and Design Reference Missions (DRMs) using modeling and simulation tools.
  • Collaborate with software and firmware engineering teams to develop simulation environments, including software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platforms.
  • Develop analytical tools used to validate spacecraft and constellation performance during on-orbit mission operations.
  • Partner with technical and program leadership to ensure mission analysis products are delivered on schedule and meet customer performance objectives.
  • Support technical planning, proposal efforts, system trades, and mission architecture development.

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Ability to obtain an Interim and/or Final Top Secret Security Clearance after hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, and 5+ years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2+ years of experience modeling and simulating complex satellite or aerospace systems.
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following:
    • MATLAB/Simulink
    • Python
    • C++
  • Experience developing modeling, simulation, and analytical tools for aerospace, defense, or space systems.
  • Experience supporting satellite mission analysis, mission performance evaluation, or constellation analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of related engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of satellite design, spacecraft development, or on-orbit operations experience.
  • Experience with Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) payloads, optical systems, and image processing algorithms.
  • Experience with:
    • Orbital mechanics
    • Astrodynamics
    • Kinematic state estimation
    • Target tracking
  • Experience using government modeling and simulation tools including:
    • ASSET
    • PRA Toolkit
    • AFSIM
  • Knowledge of hardware development and modeling technologies including:
    • VHDL
    • Verilog
    • Vitis Model Composer
  • Experience with satellite communications and space-to-space networking architectures.
  • Technical leadership experience including:
    • Responsible Engineering Authority (REA)
    • Requirements verification and validation (V&V)
    • Technical task leadership
    • Cost Account Management (CAM)
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
