Electromechanical Systems | Aerospace & Defense

North Charleston, SC

$23.28 - $24.71/Hour

We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician – Electromechanical Systems to support aerospace and defense manufacturing by assembling, disassembling, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. This role requires experience interpreting engineering drawings, using precision hand tools, following technical work instructions, and maintaining compliance with FOD, ESD, safety, calibration, and quality standards within a production environment.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and repair mechanical and electromechanical assemblies using hand tools and calibrated precision tools.
  • Perform repairs and rework by following engineering drawings, technical manuals, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and engineering change documentation.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical assemblies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform functional testing and inspections to verify product quality and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), calibration, material handling, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to document work activities, communicate results, and support production reporting.
  • Support material planning and inventory activities using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts and systems.
  • Accurately document inspection results, repair activities, and production records.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (such as vocational training or an Associate degree).
  • Experience assembling and disassembling mechanical or electromechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, calibrated precision tools, and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and engineering changes.
  • Knowledge of electronics and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Understanding of FOD prevention, ESD controls, material handling, calibration requirements, and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts, including demand planning, lead times, inventory management, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to collect, retain, and accurately document technical information and production data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or military manufacturing programs.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and engineering change processes.
  • Experience with inspection, testing, and verification of electromechanical assemblies.
