We are hiring a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer – Production Systems / Industrial Automation to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and production systems. This engineering role focuses on equipment design, production process optimization, manufacturing automation, troubleshooting, configuration management, safety compliance, and supplier collaboration to improve quality, reliability, and operational efficiency in a production environment.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate production program and project requirements to develop innovative equipment concepts and engineering solutions that support manufacturing operations.
  • Design, develop, implement, and improve manufacturing equipment and production systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Compile and analyze technical data to assess impacts on product design, equipment usability, manufacturing processes, and production rate estimates.
  • Ensure equipment designs comply with safety regulations, ergonomic principles, producibility, maintainability, reliability, and applicable industry standards.
  • Develop, release, and manage equipment bid packages and purchase specifications for external suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment and manufacturing process issues affecting quality, safety, repeatability, and operational performance.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions and workarounds to minimize production downtime and improve manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Maintain hardware configurations and associated engineering documentation using configuration management practices.
  • Perform equipment and asset utilization studies and provide recommendations for repair, replacement, disposition, or lifecycle improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to support production objectives and continuous process improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing, production equipment, or industrial engineering environments.
  • Experience evaluating engineering requirements and developing equipment or manufacturing process solutions.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles related to manufacturing equipment, production systems, safety, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Experience analyzing technical data and supporting engineering design decisions.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, equipment specifications, and supplier purchase requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's degree plus 3 years or Ph.D. with relevant experience).
  • ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred, though not required.
  • Experience managing complex technical projects involving manufacturing equipment implementation and production support.
  • Experience evaluating equipment solutions and assessing spare parts inventories in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with hardware, software, and engineering documentation configuration management.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with manufacturing safety regulations and hardware standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
