We are hiring an Equipment Engineer to support manufacturing automation, production equipment reliability, and production system improvement in a hands-on engineering environment. This role focuses on equipment development and implementation, asset reliability, automated manufacturing systems, preventative maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, commissioning, and optimization of high-precision milling, forming, and metal processing equipment.

 

This position works closely with production operators, technicians, mechanics, suppliers, procurement, and cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve safety and reliability, and execute complex equipment projects. The Equipment Engineer will develop equipment specifications and verification/validation protocols, manage configuration and asset documentation, address reliability and obsolescence issues, and ensure production assets meet safety, quality, ergonomic, maintainability, producibility, and regulatory requirements.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and improve production equipment and complex automated manufacturing systems.
  • Evaluate business and project requirements and develop equipment concepts and engineering solutions for production systems.
  • Ensure the reliability, safety, integrity, and maintainability of critical production assets.
  • Develop and implement asset reliability systems, equipment health assessments, preventative maintenance plans, and asset lifecycle strategies.
  • Manage equipment documentation, configuration control, preventative maintenance requirements, and spare parts planning.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, procurement agents, and cross-functional teams to execute equipment projects within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Develop complex equipment specifications and corresponding verification and validation test protocols.
  • Manage testing and commissioning activities for new equipment acquisitions, modifications, and complex automated systems.
  • Analyze maintenance history and spare parts usage to identify reliability and obsolescence issues, optimize equipment performance, and reduce costs.
  • Optimize high-precision milling, forming, and other metal processing equipment for safety, ergonomics, quality, production flow, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure equipment and production systems comply with applicable safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic, regulatory, and hardware requirements.
  • Validate contractual performance milestones and conduct equipment and production readiness reviews.
  • Develop production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spare parts plans.
  • Develop and implement equipment workarounds as needed while maintaining hardware, software, and documentation configuration.
  • Work directly on the production floor with operators, technicians, and mechanics to troubleshoot equipment and support production system performance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, including manufacturing engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of related engineering work experience.
  • Applicable and appropriate educational or certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience as required.
  • Experience supporting equipment development, implementation, reliability, or improvement in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work directly in a production-floor environment supporting operators, technicians, mechanics, and production equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of project management experience supporting complex technical projects, evaluating and selecting equipment solutions, and assessing spare parts inventory in a production environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with hardware, software, and documentation configuration management.
  • 1+ years of experience working with industry standards, including hardware and safety code compliance.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and production processes.
  • ABET-accredited engineering education preferred where applicable in the United States.
